In the vicinity of Riyadh, in the course of the Wadi Hanifa, several dams were built for irrigation and to avoid the risk of flooding in case of torrential rains; the most important are those of Al Elb and Al Ha’ir (represented in the stamp).

The unification of Saudi Arabia was a political and military campaign made by the House of Saud against several sheikhs, emirates, kingdoms and tribes of the Arabian peninsula, who were conquered between 1902 and 1932. On September 23 of this last year proclaimed the modern kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of Abdelaziz ibn Saud.
