Boti Falls, formed by the Pawnpawn River (popularly known as Pomnpon), are located in the Boti Forest, in the Eastern Region of Ghana. There are actually two waterfalls in Boti: the upper and lower falls. The locals believe that one of the lower falls is male and the other female. When the volume of water is high, especially during the rainy season (between June and August), the two meet in what the locals describe as a "mating ceremony", in which the splashes of water create a rainbow. The pool formed at the base of the falls is very suitable for a refreshing swim. The highest waterfall has a height of about 30 m (98 ft). The place was declared public in 1961, after a dispute over its ownership.
