Kopački
Rit Nature Park (Croatian: Park prirode Kopački rit), established in
1976, is located in eastern Croatia, in Osijek-Baranja
County, northwest of the confluence of the Drava and the Danube rivers, is
situated at the border with Serbia. It comprises many backwaters and ponds
along the Danube. It is one of the most important, largest and most attractive
preserved intact wetlands
in Europe. Its área is 177 km2 (68 sq mi). A part of the park has
been designated as a zoological reserve: there are around 260 bird species and
around 40 fish species, and mammals as red deer, roe deer, wild boar, European
wildcat, pine marten, stone marten, least weasel, and the Eurasian otter. It
has also over 140 recorded species of plant.
