San Pablo Lake, also known as Imbacocha (in Kichwa: Impakucha), is located in the Ecuadorian province of Imbabura, in the Andes range, at an altitude of 2,660 m (8,727 ft) above sea level. Its length is 3.5 km (2.17 mi) and its width is 2.2 km (1.37 mi), covering an area of 6.7 km2 (2.58 sq mi); its maximum depth is 35 m (115 ft). Its main tributary is the Itambi River, and it is drained by the Jatunyaku (or Hatunyaku) River. The lake has great symbolic importance for the Otavalo indigenous people.
