The island of Singapore is separated, by the north, from the Malay Peninsula by the Straits of Johor, and by the south, from Indonesia, by the Singapore Strait, although there are other straits between the smaller islands that make up the country. Ancient maritime maps and charts and pilot guides presented a network of maritime channels in the area that can be seen on the stamp.
