Basaseachic
Falls (Spanish: Cascada de Basaseachic) is located at the top of the Sierra Madre
Occidental, in the municipality of Ocampo
(Chihuahua state), in the Basaseachic
Falls National Park (Parque Nacional Cascada de Basaseachic). With a
height of 246 m (807 ft) of free fall (the height indicated in the stamp is
incorrect), it is the highest permanent waterfall in Mexico. It is formed by
the Durazno and the Basaseachi streams, which come together at the top of the
mountain and then rush down the ravine; from the waterfall the stream is called
the Candameña River.
