Glittertind
(official form on maps: Glittertinden) is the second highest mountain in
the Scandinavian
Alps, at 2,465 m (8,087 ft) above sea level, including the glacier at
its peak; without the glacier, it is 2,452 m (8,045 ft). It is in the
municipality of Lom
(Innlandet county), in the Jotunheimen
National Park. Its summit was first reached in 1841 by Harald
Nicolai Storm Wergeland and Hans Sletten. The Glittertind takes its name
from the neighboring Glitra River to which the ending tind which means ‘peak’
has been added.
