The
first Colombian postage stamp was issued on September 1, 1859. It had as its
central image and in green the Coat of Arms of the Granadine
Confederation (Confederación Granadina). It was the first value of a
set of three. On this stamp is represented the second value of the set, in its
violet variety.
The map shows the existing postal routes in the country in 1859.
