It is located north of the island of Antigua and is part of the Leeward Islands of the West Indies. His capital is Codrington. The island was a British colony from 1666 to the Independence of Antigua and Barbuda. Total area of the island is 160.56 km2 (61.99 sq mi), and according to the 2011 census its population was 1,325 inhabitantes. From September 2017 to February 2019 the inhabitants of the island were evacuated to Antigua beacuse Hurricane Irma damaged or destroyed 95% of the island's buildings and infrastructure.
