The
Higuamo Bridge, over the river of the same name (represented in the stamp) was
inaugurated in 1973 near the city of San Pedro de
Macorís, in the southeast of the Dominican Republic. It was subsequently
completely remodeled with a new 626 m (2,054 ft) long structure, which opened
in January 2007.
The Higuamo River is partially navigable and empties into the Caribbean Sea, just outside San Pedro de Macorís.
