The
Pannonian Lakes (Panonska jezera) are artificial salt lakes that are
located in the center of the city of Tuzla. The complex consists of
three lakes of different sizes and depths and saltwater waterfalls. Within the
complex there is also the Neolithic settlement of Sojenica,
sports fields and many other catering, cultural and entertainment facilities.
These lakes are unique examples of salt lakes in Europe and have healing
properties due to the content of salt and other minerals. The first lake was
built in 2003, the second in 2009, and the third opened in 2012. A fourth lake
is planned to be built. The complex has a total area of 75,000 m2.
