The Towers of Notre Dame (French: Les Tours de Notre-Dame; Puxa in the Fwâi language) is an islet of black calcareous stone located at the mouth of the Hienghène River, on the northeastern coast of New Caledonia, very close to the town of Hienghène . The islet is also known as Poule couveuse de Hienghène (“Hienghène Broody Hen”) because of its shape when seen from the south. It is a taboo place for the inhabitants of the area (it is forbidden to access it) and a famous tourist attraction.
