It is a bridge represented by the French orientalist painter Joseph de La Nézière (1873-1944), located in the town of Daphne, on the banks of the Orontes River, near the city of Antioch (Antakya), currently belonging to Turkey. Today’s city stands partly on the site of the ancient Antiochia, also known as Antioch on the Orontes or Syrian Antioch.
