Cayo
Paredón Grande is an island of the Jardines del Rey
archipelago, north of Camagüey Province.
Its extension is 8.7 km² (3.36 sq mi). It is located off the north coast of Cayo Romano, to which it
is linked by a viaduct. The island's economy is mainly based on tourism, thanks
to its white sand beaches. The lighthouse, also known as Faro Diego Velázquez,
built in 1859, has a height of 48 m (157.5 ft) and a range of 27 nautical miles
(50 km, or 31 mi).
