is located in the Grampians
region, in the state of Victoria. Its area is 1,672.19 km2
(645.6 sq mi). It was established on July 1, 1984 and declared a National
Heritage Site on December 15, 2006 for being one of the richest Aboriginal rock
art sites in Southeastern Australia and the entire country. The Grampian Mountains feature
an astonishing series of sandstone mountain ranges of geological interest, and
are a popular rock climbing destination. The highest peak is Mount William
at 1,167 m (3,829 ft). Numerous waterfalls, such as the MacKenzie
Falls, are located in the park.
