Karpenisi (in Greek, Καρπενήσι) is a town in central Greece, capital of the regional unit of Evrytania. It is located at an altitude of 975 m (3,200 ft), in the valley of the river Karpenisiotis (Καρπενησιώτης), a tributary of the Megdovas. The Mount Tymfristos (Τυμφρηστός), 2,315 m (7,595 ft), which rises north of the city, is part of the Pindus Mountains. In the area are the best ski slopes in Greece.
