Ranomafana National Park is located southeast of Madagascar, in the province of Fianarantsoa. It has 416 km² (161 sq mi) of humid tropical forest, which is home to numerous rare species of flora and fauna, such as lemurs, 130 species of frogs, and bird species including ground rollers, blue vangas, and brown mesites. The park was established in 1991 with the purpose of conserving the unique diversity of the local ecosystem and reducing human pressure on protected areas, and is part of the Atsinanana Rainforest denomination chosen as a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2007. Since 2010 it is also included in the World Heritage Site in Danger list. The stamp shows the former Relais de Ranomafana (now Hôtel Thermal).
