Itá Pytã Punta, in Guaraní spelling (which means “Point of the red stone”) is a small fluvial peninsula in the shape of a promontory, 2 hectares in area, located on the Paraguay River between the Itá Pytã Punta and San Antonio neighborhoods of the city of Asunción, capital of Paraguay. It is an extinct volcano of which the current Tacumbú and Lambaré hills are testimonies, whose composition is formed by sedimentary and volcanic igneous rocks dating from the Eocene, transformed by the erosion of the river.
