Wolin
National Park (in Polish, Woliński Park Narodowy) is situated on the
island of Wolin, in the far
north-west of Poland, in West Pomeranian Voivodeship, near te German border. It
was established on March 3, 1960 and covers an area of 109.37 km2
(42.23 sq mi). The dominant landscape is the chain of moraine hills that border
the sea and cover 75% of the park area, reaching a height of 115.9 m (380.2
ft), and the Turkusowe
Lake. The cliffs reach a height of 95 m (312 ft). The abrasion of the cliff
coast moves the coastline about 80 cm each year. The Park contains a varied
flora and fauna and an European bison sanctuary.
