The Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park (Nationalpark Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft), situated at the coast of the Baltic Sea, is largest national park of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's federal state. It was established on October 1, 1990 and has an area of 805 km2 (311 sq mi). It consists of several peninsulas, islands and lagoon shore areas in the Baltic Sea, belonging to the district of Vorpommern-Rügen. The territory of the park includes parts of the Darß, the Zingst peninsula, most of the island of Hiddensee and a narrow strip of land on the island of Rügen.
