The Green Lake (Slovak: Zelené pleso) is a moraine lake in the Zeleného plesa Valley. It is located in the Tatra Mountains in the historic Kežmarok area in the north of the country, at an altitude of 1,545 m (5,069 ft) above sea level. It has an area of 1.7855 ha and 4.5 m (14.76 ft) deep. Its striking greenish color has given rise to various legends, incorporated into Slovak folklore. In the stamp you can view the mountain known as Čierny štít (‘Black Shield’), at 2,429 m (7,969 ft).
