The Las Damas River dam is located 12 km (7.45 mi) from the municipality of Duvergé, in the province of Independencia, in the southwest of the Dominican Republic. It was built in the course of the Las Damas River, which rises in the Bahoruco Mountain Range, by the Dominican Electricity Corporation (Corporación Dominicana de Electricidad) with the aim of producing electricity. It was inaugurated in 1967. The dam is simple concrete gravity, and has a length of 46 m (151 ft) and a height of 14.35 m (47 ft). The storage capacity of the reservoir is 40,000 m3.
