Mount
Jalovec is a mountain in the Julian
Alps. With an elevation of 2,645 m (8,678 ft) above sea level, it is the
sixth-highest peak in Slovenia. It stands between the Tamar,
Koritnica,
and Trenta Alpine
valleys, in Upper
Carniola, within the Triglav National
Park. It is made up of Triassic limestone and dolomite. Under the peak is
born the Soča River. The
first known ascent was made by the Austrian engineer Karl Wurmb, accompanied by
two Slovenian guides, in 1875.
