Stóra Dímun is a rocky and mountainous island in the southern Faroe. It is part of the Útoyggjar group of islands (outer or peripheral islands) and is one of the smallest in the archipelago: its area is 2.6 km² (1 sq mi) and its highest peak is Mount Høgoyggj, 395 m (1,296 ft ) above sea level, It is accessible by sea only during periods of clear and calm weather, but there is a regular helicopter service twice a week all year. There is a lighthouse on the island, built in 1927. In 2021 the island was inhabited by only ten people.
