Lake
Moesola (Italian: Laghetto Moesola) is located in the Lepontine Alps, at
2,063 m (6,768 ft), at the top of the San Bernardino Pass,
in the municipality of Mesocco,
canton of Grisons, near Italian border. Its
length is 315 m (1,033 ft) and its width is 150 m (492 ft). Its depth varies
between 5 and 10 m (16 and 33 ft). It is fed by the Moesa River and by
various streams. In the lake there is a large island, in the shape of a fish,
and two smaller islands. On the stamp you can see, in the background, the Piz Uccello.
