Westhoek Nature Reserve is a cross-border territory between the Belgian province of West Flanders (West-Vlaanderen) and the French departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais, on the shores of the North Sea. The 340-hectare Belgian reserve was created in 1957 and is the oldest in the country; the French, part of which is known as Dunes du Perroquet, has an area of 225 ha. It is, as a whole, an area of wooded ridges, polders and dunes, in which Mont Cassel (Kasselberg, in Dutch) stands out, 176 m (577 ft) high, which is located in the French part. The stamp reproduces a dune landscape in the coastal area.
