Lošinj is an island in the Cres-Lošinj archipelago, northern Adriatic Sea, in the Kvarner Gulf. It is part of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Island’s area is 74.36 km² (28.71 sq mi), his length 33 km (20.5 mi) and its width 0.25–4.75 km (0.16–2.95 mi). The highest elevations of the island are the mountains Televrin (also called Osoršćica) at 588 m (1,929 ft) and Sv. Nikola (also called Sv. Mikul) at 557 m (1,827 ft). The total coastline of the island is 112.7 km (70.0 mi). According to Ptolemy, the Romans called this island Apsorrus (Ancient Greek: Ἄψορρος). In 2011, Losinj had 9,587 inhabitants.
